Day 1: Taormina/Polizzi
Generosa/Cefalù/Palermo
Today you will meet
your Driver-Escort and drive to Polizzi Generosa, a lovely
town in the heart of the Madonie Natural
Park in Palermo province. The territory of the Madonie
mountains is a paradise of earth and sky, tucked away on the island,
where each corner guards its perfect history and nature. We soon
arrive in Polizzi Generosa—a step back in time with the ancient
masserie transformed into farmhouse companies, the flour mills that
testify the water wealth of the territory and the furnaces used
today, like in the past, to make ceramics. Upon arrival,
Donna Santina will welcome us to her charming country
restaurant. She will introduce us to her kitchen and ....start
your cooking experience!!!!! At the end, we will experience
traditional, typical madonite dishes during our light lunch such us
olives, bread, tagliatelle and the deliciously mixed antipasti.
Don't forget to taste the Sfoglio, a delicious local cheesecake
famous in this town!!!!! During the afternoon, we drive to
Cefalù, a charming coastal town home to a massive Norman
Cathedral with outstanding mosaics. Then continue to Palermo.
