The driver escort provides basic historical information to prepare clients to visit sites independently, but is not a licensed local guide (and by Italian Law cannot accompany clients inside sites). If clients need the Licensed Local Guide, they must pay a surcharge and we will arrange for local guide to meet them directly on the spot.

Day 1: Palermo

Welcome to the warm, beautiful and pleasant island of Sicily!

Upon arrival at Palermo airport please proceed through the Passport Control and collect your luggage inside the customs area. Outside of customs, you will find the driver waiting holding a sign with your full name. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Monreale & Palermo

This morning enjoy a city-sightseeing tour of Palermo and Monreale through

the "Hop on and Hop off" concept of sightseeing enjoyed around the world. You'll receive a ticket valid all day so you can get on the bus and get of shopping at as many of the important sites as you'd like throughout the day. (BB)

Day 3: Palermo/Agrigento/Piazza Armerina/Taormina

(From November 1, 2008 the Roman Villa of Casale in Piazza Armerina will be closed for a hard renovation and honestly, we absolutely don't know which will be the estimated new opening date. We will swap this visit with a stop in Caltagirone�a town important for Sicilian pottery and ceramics. We will walk through the city center and climb the famous steps decorated with local and colored ceramics. Time at leisure for shopping in the Sicilian ceramic shops�)

Today you will meet your Driver-Escort and drive across the vast countryside showcasing Sicily�s great variety of sceneries. We soon arrive in Agrigento, whose history dates back to 580 BC. Independent tour of the Valley of the Temples, a magnificent cluster of Greek ruins overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Later, we depart for Piazza Armerina for an independent visit of the ruins of the Roman Villa of Casale. The mosaics discovered here are celebrated among scholars of antiquity. Afterward, we drive along the coast to Taormina, the world famous resort town of Sicily. (BB)

Day 4: Taormina/Etna Jeep Ride/Taormina

Today you will be picked up at your hotel by an off-road driver/escort and transferred to Etna Volcano. You will enjoy a lovely Jeep experience through the Etna area: Mount Fontana (view of Bove Valley), the Thieves Cave (grotta dei ladroni), extinct craters of Sartorius Mounts, and lava flow from the 2002 eruption. Light lunch at a farmhouse to taste typical Sicilian dishes. Off-road drive along the Linguaglossa-Castiglione and Alcantara Gorges area. This afternoon return to Taormina hotel. (BB L)

Day 5: Taormina

All day long at leisure to explore the town on your own (BB)

Day 6: Taormina/Catania

Time to say goodbye to Sicily as we are transferred to Catania Airport (CTA) for our return flight. (BB)
