Taormina Dessert Class

Half Day Cooking Course | from 9AM to 11:30AM

Join us in the heart of central Taormina for a quintessential Sicily Pastry and Dessert cooking class. You will learn to cook typical Sicilian pastries and desserts at one central location restaurant and devour your creations at the end. Whether you're a cooking enthusiast or a novice, this cooking class promises to be fun and entertaining. Your pastry chef will be there to answers all your questions and to share with you the important signs witnessing the influence of the Arab's tradition, in customs and in the eno-gastronomical culture, which can be seen till today.

Today we will learn cooking recipes for Cassata & Cannolo. Both pastries are date back to the time of Arab Domination.


Day 1: Taormina Dessert Class
This morning independent transfer to a local Restaurant (centrally located) in Taormina to meet the Pastry Chef. The Chef will introduce us the importance of Arab domination in Sicily. Then we will start our cooking with the Cassata Cake --the most important traditional Sicilian cake made of ricotta cheese, sponge cake and candied fruit. Very easy to make and fun to decorate as you like best! --. Then we continue with another important Sicilian recipe: Sicilian Cannoli. The Cannolo consists of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta cheese and chopped succade. At the end of the lesson, we will be able to taste our desserts made by ourselves, accompanied by a dessert wine suggested and described by our sommelier. (T)
